December 2020

Voters passed a bond measure in 2018 to fund improvements across the entire district, including at McKinley Elementary School. Bond funding will support more than $2 million in renovations at McKinley to improve safety and security in the school and support music.

Highlights of the work happening at McKinley include:
• Library improvements
• Seismic upgrades
• Music room improvements
• Renovations to the main entry to increase visibility from the front office
• Plumbing improvements

The bond funding will support smaller upgrades and improvements in other areas as well.

The district’s project management team, along with BRIC Architecture, is currently working through the last stages of the design process to create the final drawings construction contractors will use to improve spaces in our school.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2021 and is expected to be complete early in the fall of 2021.

Thanks to the community’s support of the bond, McKinley will soon have a safer learning environment with additional support for music!

A list of projects happening at McKinley can be found on the district website. For more information about bond-funded construction in Salem-Keizer Public Schools, please visit www.salemkeizer.org/projects-status.
